About the Immigration Committee

The Immigration Committee of the Las Vegas Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild was formed to fight for justice and equality of treatment in immigration law and the criminal legal system. We work to support Las Vegas’ immigrant community by supporting immigrant community groups, detainees, legal practitioners, and all advocates working to protect, defend, and advance immigrant rights.

An estimated 7.1% of Nevada’s total population is undocumented, higher than any other state in the Nation. Undocumented Nevadans live under constant threat of exploitation, discrimination, and deportation simply because of their immigration status. Even in cases where there is a path toward legal status or there are services available, fear and misinformation often serve as barriers to access. LV-NLG’s Immigration Committee is dedicated to fighting for these Nevadans.

We are working to expand access to free or low cost immigration legal services, end the arbitrary detention and deportation of immigrant Nevadans, increase transparency and reform our Nation’s immigration system, and abolish ICE.
